How we price

Painting prices in Calgary

Every number below comes from the same pricing engine as our online estimator, run on typical Calgary scopes — with room for what we can’t see before a visit.

An estimate, not a quote — the written fixed price comes after the visit.

How the price is built

Three things that never change

  1. The written scope comes first Every surface, the prep each one needs, the paint and sheen, the coats, the dates, and the exclusions — written down and approved by you before anything starts.
  2. The approved scope price stays fixed The approved scope price stays fixed. It only changes if you approve a written change to the scope — a range only becomes a price once it is in writing.
  3. What moves a number up or down Surface condition is the biggest mover — patching and repairs add real hours. High ceilings slow the cutting-in. Exterior: scope (body vs body plus trim), height and access. Fence: one side or two, paint or stain. Cabinets: laminate and melamine need bonding primers.

The Huetura Price Lock

One named promise you can hold us to — on every written scope:

The written on-site price is the final price. If the bill exceeds it without a change order you approved in writing, you don't pay the difference.

The only three things that can change it

  1. New scope You ask for more work than the written scope lists — extra rooms, ceilings, trim, or repairs.
  2. A mid-job colour change Switching colours after work starts means extra paint and labour — priced in writing first.
  3. Hidden damage Rot, water damage, or failed coatings we couldn't see until prep — shown to you in writing before we touch anything.

What's in a range — and what isn't

Every range is built on the scope shown in its own card. These are always inside the range — and these are never inside:

Always inside

  • Paint, primer and materials included
  • Two coats of quality paint over a prepared surface
  • Standard prep: washed, patched and primed

Never inside

  • GST is added on top of every range.
  • Uncounted interior doors — doors price per door from your count, so any door you didn't count stays out of the range until the visit counts it.
  • Walls needing heavy patching or sanding typically add $200–$600. We flag it in writing at the visit, before anything starts.

The fine print, up front

  • A preliminary range is not a quote.
  • GST is added on top of every range.
  • $500 minimum job — a visit and a setup cost the same whether it is one wall or ten.
  • The firm written price is confirmed after sufficient photos or a free visit.
  • Preliminary range from our pricing model — its rates are modelled, not yet checked against real job costs. Treat it as a planning guide: final scope and price are confirmed before work begins.

What moves your price most

  • Surface condition The #1 thing a visit can change — patching, repairs and priming add real hours.
  • Room count & size More rooms and bigger walls mean more paint and more labour.
  • Ceilings & trim Walls only is the baseline here — adding ceilings, doors or trim adds hours and material.
  • Ceiling height High ceilings mean slower cutting-in and more setup.
  • Exterior scope Body-only costs less than body plus trim, soffits and fascia.
  • Fence sides & finish Two sides double the area; stain soaks in deeper than paint.
  • Cabinet material Laminate and melamine need special bonding primers.
