A Huetura experiment
What will your paint look like in 5 years?
Pick a colour and a sheen, then drag through five Calgary years — high sun, snow, and freeze–thaw. This is a qualitative sketch of how paint typically weathers, not a prediction.
1 · Pick a colour
From the 12 Huetura palettes. Tap a swatch.
2 · Pick a sheen
Sheen changes how light sits on the wall — and how honestly it shows age.
The common exterior pick — a soft glow that forgives a lot and holds colour evenly.
3 · Where does it live?
Sun is the main thing that ages paint.

Full colour, full sheen — the best it will ever look.
What really decides how paint ages
- Sun exposure
South- and west-facing walls take far more UV — the single biggest aging factor.
- Prep & primer
Clean, sound surfaces with the right primer hold colour years longer than paint over old chalk.
- Paint quality
Premium exterior paints carry better UV blockers and binders. The technical data sheet matters more than the brand story.
- Calgary's freeze–thaw
Chinook swings and winter moisture work the paint film from behind. South walls dry fast; north walls stay damp longer.
An honest note
This simulator is a qualitative illustration — no manufacturer fade data, no lab numbers, no warranty. It shows how paint typically weathers, not what your walls will do. Actual results depend on exposure, surface preparation, and the product used. Ask for the paint's technical data sheet before you commit.
